V.Atoll Gender in cooperation with Crime Prevention And Public Affairs of Maldives Police Service, V.Atoll Police and V.Atoll Madharusaa has conducted an awareness program at V.Atoll Madharusaa.
The program was conducted from 22nd - 25 of April targeted for the students, their parents and the teachers of V.Atoll Madharusaa.
Within the sessions held for the students of grade 7,8,9 and 10 . The sessions discussed crucial etiquette, advised audience to acknowledge and respect authoritative figures, and reminded them to be responsible children when out in public. Also they were given information about how to act in a situation where they gain knowledge of a crime that's going to take place or has taken place.
During the sessions held for the teachers, they were advised to be good role models for students and to provide equal treatment to all students as they play a huge role in the upbringing of a child. Also, they were advised to be more alert and aware of harmful incidents for students such as bullying, and encouraged to immediately stop or prevent such actions. They were given information on how to encourage students to respect one another and to ensure that they are more disciplined.
Furthermore, in the sessions held for parents, police highlighted common causes of domestic issues and the means to counter them while dealing with challenges that may arise. Also it was emphasized the importance of strengthening family unity and the means to improve family bonds and interactions in order to reduce domestic issues and to enable child protection. Meanwhile facilitators asked that parents monitor children behavior and to identify adverse behavioral shifts and to correct their errors as soon as possible.
During the sessions which were held separately, team building exercises were conducted for all parties.
In this program, 50 students, 45 parents and all teachers of the school took part.
The sessions were facilitated by experienced officers from Crime Prevention And Public Affairs of Police.
