To ensure peace and order in the community of Kanduhulhudhoo, the island’s Police Desk have taken a proactive approach to inform and remind the community to take safety measures seriously.
This informative program categorized the community into three groups namely; private homes, the island’s medical center and shops.
Police initiated the program on the 13th July and visited several households to discuss potential threats.
Civilians were educated regarding common household issues criminal in nature, and were advised to report such issues to the Police immediately.
Meanwhile Police also emphasized the importance of safeguarding households when unattended, and never to leave properties unlocked.
Similarly, if the household is to be vacated for a period of time, Police should be informed of the matter.
Police also advised civilians on being responsible parents, and to be accountable for children’s safety and welfare.
The second segment entailed with Police visiting Kanduhulhudhoo Medical Center on the 18th of July.
During this visit, Police met with the health center employees, and discussed the importance of identifying and reporting road traffic victims and suspicious injuries on patients.
In addition, Police alerted employees not to provide medication to individuals without a prescription, and advised employees to report threatening situations.
Lastly, Police visited Kanduhulhudhoo stores on 19th July.
During this visit, Police inspected the quality of existing safety measures and suggested the means to upgrade them, and stressed the importance of using CCTV cameras.
In addition, Police advised employees not to leave large sums of money in the store unattended and to guarantee that the store is locked after business hours.
Police also alerted employees not to sell tobacco products to minors and to report any potential threats to the store.
