A male of 47 years has been brought into Police custody in Addu City, Hithadhoo. The individual took his mother’s ballot and tried to flee the voting area with it.

A 25 year old youth was injured last night at about 0200 hours in Lh. Kurendhoo. The victim received injuries to the back and was taken to the Lh. Kurendhoo Health Centre. He has since been released. The Police are working to locate the perpetrators.

Individual accused of defrauding the Elections Commission by offering forms under names of different individuals without their consent taken into Police custody at 0200 hours last night. The individual is a 51 year old male.

The individual was brought in due to attempting to register individuals to vote under islands that are not their own, without their knowledge or consent. He also attempted to defraud the Elections Commission with the falsified forms.

The individual was brought in last night as per court order.

The Maldives Police Service is investigating the matter further.
